I am making garden plans in spite of the fact that the seedlings I started stubbornly refuse to grow beyond their initial two leaves. I know where to buy plants ... There are, however, a number of things that I can plant directly in the garden -- spinach, arugula, chard, onion sets, peas, pole beans, lettuces -- and I have my fingers crossed that these will prosper. I may not have any news but that doesn't mean I shouldn't post something here, right? A lot of bloggers post photos in cases like that but I'm not always good about photographing. So what can I use to fill up as little space here? Over the past 15 years I have written and posted in various places nearly 200 verses, mostly related to quilting and quilters so I thought I would sort of revisit some of them.<br /><br />I think this is the first one that I posted to the long defunct QuiltBee:<br /><br /> ON NEATNESS<br /><br />I made my sewing room tidy one day<br />And put all my fabrics and tools away --<br />A crate of blues and one of reds,<br />Several boxes for different threads,<br />My backing fabrics all on one shelf,<br />All of the batting in a box by itself,<br />Scissors and rulers all hanging up,<br />Pencils and markers joined in one cup,<br />The stencils collected and neatly in place,<br />Pins in their holders, bags for the lace,<br />Buttons and beads in boxes with labels,<br />I even saw the tops of some tables!<br />I admired the neatness. I wanted to sing --<br />But I couldn't find a doggone thing!<br /><br /><br />And it's still true! I have three people (2/3 daughters and my dear quilter friend, Lenore) who would love to have it. I am particularly impressed with the details of how the quilting was done. I never thought of it being much more than sewing squares or triangles of cloth together in pretty patterns, although I knew to some it was an art form. Now I see why! I look forward to the next edition.<br /><br />Now, please, tell me how/where to purchase the 3 copies of the book I want</span></span>.Quiltmusehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05779192480370298467noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19932982.post-89844455287880894092011-04-01T11:43:00.000-07:002011-04-01T11:57:08.418-07:00'A Black and White Tale' order info<br /><br />In order to simplify things for all of us I have created a table showing prices including shipping for as many possibilities as I <span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-style: italic;"></span></span> could think of.<br /><br />When and if you order copies of the book -- and I hope you will! -- please include<br />1. I had lots of fun with these. Three are made with only 5 inch charm squares. The double Irish chain that is white, red and black is made with 2 <span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:100%;">½inch squares and triangles. They all range in size from 44 to 48 inches square and I did all the work myself. As I said before, they are incubator quilts and will be used in the hospital neonatal unit to protect the incubator babies' eyes from the bright lights and then go home with the baby.</span></span></div> I was thinking Irish this month, hence the green and white nine patch. Then I did the double Irish chain only used red and black with white, more Scottish than Irish, LOL. The last one was another double Irish chain in green black and white but I used 5 inch squares so wouldn't have to deal with so many parts. The fish one was just a fun one and the boat was more of a challenge. but, I had fun with all of them.<br />=======================<br />I am so proud of her and her determination to overcome her handicap to continue to do something she loves.Quiltmusehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05779192480370298467noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19932982.post-40949473651945610762011-03-28T07:15:00.000-07:002011-03-28T07:22:43.953-07:00I have received several orders for 'A Black and White Tale' from outside the United States. I have a blind quilter friend who just posted this to our list.<br /><br />I am posting it here with her permission as well as what she wrote:<br /><br />This is the first quilt I have made entirely by myself since losing my sight. I cut all the pieces with my Accuquilt. I picked the colors with my color identifier and the help of my daughter who described the print if any. Let me know what you think.<br /><br />After I requested permission to share her triumph she answered:<br /><br />I would like you to do that but would you include this description my granddaughter sent me when she saw it. She is in Florida and going to a graphic arts university there. She sent this back when she saw the photo. "Hi Gram! I love the quilt, it reminds me of a woodland lake so much! The colors in the middle look like a lake with long cat-tails growing along it, and then the brighter squares around it remind me of the forest and all it's vegetation. I really like the colors that you chose, and the layout is beautiful. You never cease to surprise me with your work! Thank you for sharing this with me.<br />"<br />Her words express what I was trying to depict with my design and color choices. Thank you so much for your comments and please do post it. First, I am being published in a real book! Ann Fahl has made a series of quilts featuring her cat Oreo and I have written verses to go with those quilts plus some of her other quilts to make 'A Black and White Tale' featuring Oreo and her activities. The book will be published near the end of March and I will have a few copies for sale by April 1-- no fooling! I will post the price when I have it. I will also take reservations for the book. Our snow has mostly gone but I still had some dyes mixed and sitting, hopefully waiting ... but I didn't want to dye any more fabric. Aha! I wonder what would happen if I tried dyeing some Warm and Natural batting? It's all cotton, so the dyes should work ...<br /><br />So I cut up a piece of the W&N batting that I had lying around and ended up with four smallish pieces and two larger ones:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCulR6jBSGrRWtk6wIdUhGbrB_VA2_KCaiNgUqFLelZNmFt228ya8pQSRVDSbqrOlrZozwy8mt0J0WznfSFlpBLOTrMTj8_Mioaz6m8M2-5uPZTwEO1BRW1-8g9gOdnmnhEFwd/s1600-h/W&N+-+2.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 319px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCulR6jBSGrRWtk6wIdUhGbrB_VA2_KCaiNgUqFLelZNmFt228ya8pQSRVDSbqrOlrZozwy8mt0J0WznfSFlpBLOTrMTj8_Mioaz6m8M2-5uPZTwEO1BRW1-8g9gOdnmnhEFwd/s320/W&N+-+2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5447462574058901538" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdKOmwwTP7qnStoDEZPGWbZAk7vvjSAbfsnjOgWBILURVdFLLwa5yotKtnMwtPxtNkncdSMWoc1L5UKXfbzbPTIuCnIccXUG3jeCKRZW2zgJRCG1Qvf5StvFMxH3faYtYhWiDq/s1600-h/W&N+-+1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 313px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdKOmwwTP7qnStoDEZPGWbZAk7vvjSAbfsnjOgWBILURVdFLLwa5yotKtnMwtPxtNkncdSMWoc1L5UKXfbzbPTIuCnIccXUG3jeCKRZW2zgJRCG1Qvf5StvFMxH3faYtYhWiDq/s320/W&N+-+1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5447462569965393122" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQSDqlVfwKqSaxyaCHfN-TiX_etmrjjwxXdACX6EJTdBhWQQ55XmuoqTVKkdWcI6Y1RndygR-xZ6kexBF4art1s2B9X9-D8NDp9JhJcIesZ3S61q0plggY4qWS5g0159Aq8ICP/s1600-h/W&N+-+3,4,5,6.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 310px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQSDqlVfwKqSaxyaCHfN-TiX_etmrjjwxXdACX6EJTdBhWQQ55XmuoqTVKkdWcI6Y1RndygR-xZ6kexBF4art1s2B9X9-D8NDp9JhJcIesZ3S61q0plggY4qWS5g0159Aq8ICP/s320/W&N+-+3,4,5,6.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5447462566159045330" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />I was a little worried about how they would wash out so I did them in the machine, after extensive rinsing, on the gentle cycle and dried them using medium heat. This time I used 1/2 yard pieces of the PFD muslin -- and found they were actually a little large for the pots -- or I didn't add enough dye. Once I found that the dye had not penetrated to the bottom of the pots I just put the fabric back in with the undyed part of the fabric up and added more soda ash solution, snow and dye -- and waited.<br /><br />On inspection of the results I see that I did get rather carried away with applications of red and blue dyes -- I have a lot of purple! -- and all but one piece are quite deeply and vividly colored.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYhJggyyMjnE1Xu2l7ILAEaYHfC4HdA3UZLMtgWukXGuyCbv-0gzoIWX1S0vWBWFTsjD8o-7_w4FGxYXjfS49nINqeFW-0rc47I5sWZo5tj8sHvPdj-ZbMloCo7NWIEgbv1iIf/s1600-h/PFDa+-+8.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; This time I chose 1/2 yard pieces of PFD muslin which I first washed, then soaked in the soda ash solution before placing in the flower pots. I added snow as before but changed the application method for the dyes, using the curved end of straws to pick up the dyes with a finger over the other end to hold it in place until I got into the position I wanted to release the dye to. This made for a somewhat more controlled application.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEy64wSYKBuSqNzAEQdnvAVWZ-gLdQmvWsXUM1osxd25CzfJ_opv4NB-3J-GsXPkcUbBYweF33UvHLjU_1sQSyJp2qHm5O2nSNupBjGLpb8m3NWU0rjTeusYQ34pmUm5wH8YD7/s1600-h/Straw+used+to+apply+dye.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEy64wSYKBuSqNzAEQdnvAVWZ-gLdQmvWsXUM1osxd25CzfJ_opv4NB-3J-GsXPkcUbBYweF33UvHLjU_1sQSyJp2qHm5O2nSNupBjGLpb8m3NWU0rjTeusYQ34pmUm5wH8YD7/s320/Straw+used+to+apply+dye.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5441097185335640674" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyFm5jEwMlJ3ZJ8Hd3Q9_MKZYDiYYu_3pMqxWeI0R4uhquxPzmWd-wqXHTSBC6mnI8rbxygT8xDDASQx3Gwpquu9FTO0LKJa-nzg9BY1SX8ZkfyONHIXdJYQR44NxzBbbGynTp/s1600-h/PDF+muslin+with+snow+and+dyes.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 182px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyFm5jEwMlJ3ZJ8Hd3Q9_MKZYDiYYu_3pMqxWeI0R4uhquxPzmWd-wqXHTSBC6mnI8rbxygT8xDDASQx3Gwpquu9FTO0LKJa-nzg9BY1SX8ZkfyONHIXdJYQR44NxzBbbGynTp/s320/PDF+muslin+with+snow+and+dyes.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5441097195542822658" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />When I placed the fabrics in the pots I also included a piece of soda ash soaked cheesecloth with three of the fabrics, the cheesecloth sort of nestled in the middle. Vermont snow has been a bit sparse in my area this year. Early this week we got a nice 6" so I set about using some of it to dye with. My stash yielded some suitable B&W fabrics for the borders and I did some minimal quilting with black Sulky Sliver to keep the centers from sagging away from the Warm and Natural batting I added to give more stability after adding all the beads.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigt_hw99U-ywMyTvqhkduqF1BciZyCoXAvA20WocRbW2yNl1a9DscL24k-aPYiB85yJnaG7ijZ69vKDVnnnlsDdG96zHK_tZ-5m2q1RY_TJSvDpmvA0ewJQH2AL0CgvmWjw_vJ/s1600-h/B&W+%231--+Kerfluffle+with+border+%232.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigt_hw99U-ywMyTvqhkduqF1BciZyCoXAvA20WocRbW2yNl1a9DscL24k-aPYiB85yJnaG7ijZ69vKDVnnnlsDdG96zHK_tZ-5m2q1RY_TJSvDpmvA0ewJQH2AL0CgvmWjw_vJ/s320/B&W+%231--+Kerfluffle+with+border+%232.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5088924315882940642" border="0" /></a>Kerfluffle has had its safety pins removed and a plain black binding added. The outer border has been quilted along some of the lines in the print --- very randomly but effectively.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Gridlock used the printed squares of B&W stripes as the starting point. Each square was outlined with a running stitch and fuzzy yarn was then threaded through it. Each square then had a variety of bead[s] added to it. Again, some minimal quilting with black Sulky Sliver was added for stability. It too has a solid black border.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcbK59KR6zuXuum7_MVQsquOLciYZEfQdstfq9DRm-gWWTD-3rhW3fwYHXnWO2rMeqpjKIPms921X7L4AI8elhhZWN5mgoGsXPONXp8QeN8EFp30buUiCyz-E_-zA8x-6hDZwm/s1600-h/B&W%232+-Gridlock+-+with+border.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcbK59KR6zuXuum7_MVQsquOLciYZEfQdstfq9DRm-gWWTD-3rhW3fwYHXnWO2rMeqpjKIPms921X7L4AI8elhhZWN5mgoGsXPONXp8QeN8EFp30buUiCyz-E_-zA8x-6hDZwm/s320/B&W%232+-Gridlock+-+with+border.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5088927592942987538" border="0" /></a><br />I have four more of these pieces in various stages of completion. Somehow I can't stick to one at a time -- sometimes I have to think a bit about what to do next and with what. Occasionally I uncover something in my stash of threads, yarns and bead that I hadn't seen or thought of using before and the collection of materials I keep at had while working keeps growing! I guess I should photograph that as well.<br /><br />Well, this is all for this installment. Next time I hope to put up at least some of the photos I took last month at the Vermont Quilt Festival. According to the guidelines in the catalog I may do so on a personal web site as long as I identify the event, the title of the quilt and the maker -- which I had planned to do in any event. I don't care for anonymous quilts -- I would like to be able to relate a quilts that I have seen by one maker to others I may see in the future by the same person. Wouldn't you?Quiltmusehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05779192480370298467noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19932982.post-17137398597189793082007-03-24T18:53:00.000-07:002007-03-24T19:13:28.977-07:00<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfx0AV_xVr_BQX1d4af5Cl9ZwcX1UfslyYIH-1DbgpGrK81QNSy7r6kn_bKnjBbQkhFux4Qs5sSayXeYOynX4Xqu7DujZi2XmP0n1ie0S9NF_QRpMTt1bgqOn4Ax8f8pO_-lii/s1600-h/Green+5+--+tree.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfx0AV_xVr_BQX1d4af5Cl9ZwcX1UfslyYIH-1DbgpGrK81QNSy7r6kn_bKnjBbQkhFux4Qs5sSayXeYOynX4Xqu7DujZi2XmP0n1ie0S9NF_QRpMTt1bgqOn4Ax8f8pO_-lii/s320/Green+5+--+tree.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5045674621208421602" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><br /><br /><br /><br />QUILTS? WELL -- FUN ANYWAY!<br /><br />One of the quilts in my Green Series has rather gotten away from me -- at least as far as parts of it are concerned. My simple abstract tree of equilateral triangles wasn't satisfied just to be decorated with quartz chips. It demanded a trunk and borders too and they turned out to be embroidered in various yarns and threads with beads added. The piece has not been layered for quilting but I do feel that I can show it off a bit as it is!<br /><br />That was so much fun that I have now embarked on a series in black, grey and white using various print fabrics as bases and more yarns, threads and beads in these colors than I realized I had -- especially the beads!<br />These are about 8x10" in size and the first one has been done with no preliminary planning -- just made it up as I went along. I am now trying to decide if it needs a border and, if so -- what? Or maybe I should just bind it with the base fabric?<br /><br /></span><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyxlMcKH-vRzPImnGC3EPyRCE4uKEDu8KcnYJtrXt40jS9ze7sepMYS0edgNtKXJM7VrEILNd81XpLSi6GT-aOj_y2xb_ZNiRhkjA1EweG3wNBvXICj4g9lsNXa6r5X9-10r7m/s1600-h/B&W+%231--+Kerfluffle.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyxlMcKH-vRzPImnGC3EPyRCE4uKEDu8KcnYJtrXt40jS9ze7sepMYS0edgNtKXJM7VrEILNd81XpLSi6GT-aOj_y2xb_ZNiRhkjA1EweG3wNBvXICj4g9lsNXa6r5X9-10r7m/s320/B&W+%231--+Kerfluffle.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5045674621208421618" border="0" /></a>Quiltmusehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05779192480370298467noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19932982.post-1778056754972030892007-02-21T08:56:00.000-08:002007-02-21T09:27:14.278-08:00QUILT SWAP QUILTS!<br /><br />They arrived yesterday from England -- together. I did my best to open them simultaneously, and was blown away by both of them!<br /><br />'Sunset on an Alien Planet' by Kate North is vibrant with the backgrounds in shades of red with orange heavenly bodies, some overlaid with Angelina fibers and wit<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD3vNyTsrfXJBE6nAOs8XM7NHDlwGiR1pZcjv8H5yJfxRn31xV8ktw5fNIpI-bcSdd0-jTmBscLleqD5cZadXY-2uEEIl1R49On3Q7kuxXGfX24L5V7DDuLl6GjP_KvSlRbdFE/s1600-h/Sunset+on+an+Alien+Planet.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 351px; height: 372px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD3vNyTsrfXJBE6nAOs8XM7NHDlwGiR1pZcjv8H5yJfxRn31xV8ktw5fNIpI-bcSdd0-jTmBscLleqD5cZadXY-2uEEIl1R49On3Q7kuxXGfX24L5V7DDuLl6GjP_KvSlRbdFE/s320/Sunset+on+an+Alien+Planet.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5034033527252944546" border="0" /></a>h some small groupings of minibeads here and there. If the alien planet follows our rules of weather forecasting this is a true 'Traveller's delight'! In any case it is mine and will hang in my workroom.<br /><br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzFuVfPqgFbbP4eOUUCwvmVuOMwydKMbZ0t7QKDBMqdtTLS4Kv8pho6xJ1NOFH2L-gy83SY4tN09SgumhSShtuHJopdpdLJ6Oumq08CI4qcV-VBa62FpdS1YQvEKLkT2i41bDp/s1600-h/Mimsy+Borogroves+and+Co.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 469px; height: 407px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzFuVfPqgFbbP4eOUUCwvmVuOMwydKMbZ0t7QKDBMqdtTLS4Kv8pho6xJ1NOFH2L-gy83SY4tN09SgumhSShtuHJopdpdLJ6Oumq08CI4qcV-VBa62FpdS1YQvEKLkT2i41bDp/s320/Mimsy+Borogroves+and+Co.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5034032625309812370" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />'Mimsy Borogroves and Co.' by Sandy Snowden is as wild as the fuzzy tulgy wood in which they lurk. Most of the Jabberwocky characters are there -- just the slithy toves are missing, Sandy says because 'they were having too much gyreing and gimbeling in the wabe'.<br />At the very top flies the purple Jubjub bird, heading for the orange Mome Rath in the right corner. On the far left of center is the Bandersnatch, looking very frumious! Right in the center is the Jabberwock, orange and red and definitely fierce looking! To his left at the bottom of the quilt are two Borogroves being mimsy as all get out!<br /><br />The almost-obscured background seems to be hand dyed fabric as do all of the creatures. The wood is built up of fuzzy yarns attached to the background with embroidery stitches and a wonderful variety of beads and bits of shell are used for the faces of the creatures lurking there. Altogether wonderful!<br /><br />I will be hanging it on my bedroom door -- the outside of course! I don't need those critters sneaking up on me in the dark!<br /><br />I am delighted with both of these quilts which speak so eloquently to my love of fantasy and science fiction and am already thinking about what I can make for the next Quilt Swap.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzFuVfPqgFbbP4eOUUCwvmVuOMwydKMbZ0t7QKDBMqdtTLS4Kv8pho6xJ1NOFH2L-gy83SY4tN09SgumhSShtuHJopdpdLJ6Oumq08CI4qcV-VBa62FpdS1YQvEKLkT2i41bDp/s1600-h/Mimsy+Borogroves+and+Co.jpg"><br /></a>Quiltmusehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05779192480370298467noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19932982.post-40519488106901971292007-02-16T13:30:00.000-08:002007-02-16T13:52:13.076-08:00The Quilt Art list has an offshoot with which the members who wish to do so can swap small art quilts. JPGs of the quilts in question are sent to a central moderator and after they are posted on the group's web page a list of those that are wanted by each member are submitted. After some arcane mumbo-jumbo (the complexity of which I can hardly imagine!) each participant receives a quilt from among the choices. I submitted two quilts from a series I am making based on (1) hand dyed fabrics, mainly green but edging into blue and (2) simple shapes, so far rectangles and equilateral triangles. These are the quilts I submitted:<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKEkNEqKYdgUAlTuRW9mQmn1cxVhJZHKc-aavbWXsaB8jHKVKANMxRSVhO2rcmJBBTXHMHi67HHXGi1YUZ_4uedCdPGNMBw1eH0cQHdkXcSrh_pU3SquMPMOpUXsla0lY6CEKM/s1600-h/jscuittoGreen2-strippy.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKEkNEqKYdgUAlTuRW9mQmn1cxVhJZHKc-aavbWXsaB8jHKVKANMxRSVhO2rcmJBBTXHMHi67HHXGi1YUZ_4uedCdPGNMBw1eH0cQHdkXcSrh_pU3SquMPMOpUXsla0lY6CEKM/s320/jscuittoGreen2-strippy.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5032248066398324306" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNvyNCmbNjtCKrFnUQR-Imf3K8vWqQMYMnJgiqujALe83XoQUoqiqKiIAeztCtAVkbBie9tApSGZSYA0Jb_II2ZuOv6QNU0CvgiEzozeNNUDB1VhN4duA_UeYx-BgyVDy1wurF/s1600-h/jscuittoGreen3-Yarn.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNvyNCmbNjtCKrFnUQR-Imf3K8vWqQMYMnJgiqujALe83XoQUoqiqKiIAeztCtAVkbBie9tApSGZSYA0Jb_II2ZuOv6QNU0CvgiEzozeNNUDB1VhN4duA_UeYx-BgyVDy1wurF/s320/jscuittoGreen3-Yarn.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5032247843060024898" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />The two quilts I will be getting are on their way from England and will probably not arrive until sometime next week, but I can be patient and just savor their names for a few days longer: Sunset on an Alien Planet and Mimsy Borogroves. Both speak to my love of fantasy and science fiction. I even have their places to hang chosen. They will displace quilts I received in a couple of other exchanges, but change is good, Right?Quiltmusehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05779192480370298467noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19932982.post-39882295296737148102007-02-14T14:00:00.000-08:002007-02-14T14:05:04.018-08:00Lovely to look at my last posting since we are presently in the middle of a big snowstorm! So much has happened sincd I last posted -- I went to Germany and have been quilting quite a bit. I joined the Quilt Swap and am awaiting two quilts from England! My two are on their way to Montana and Virginia. At some point there will be photos of the German trip and quilts and whatever else I can find in my photo files.<br /><br />But I'll think about those tomorrow -- or sometime. Meanwhile I have to go and cook supper.Quiltmusehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05779192480370298467noreply@blogger.com0
